Bangalore to Puttaparthi Cab
Puttaparthi is the home of Prasanthi Nilayam, the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, and draws devotees, patients and visitors from across India and abroad. A Bangalore to Puttaparthi cab makes it an easy trip, either there and back in a day or with a night or two at the ashram.
The route
From Bengaluru to Prasanthi Nilayam
You leave Bengaluru northwards on NH 44, past Yelahanka and the airport, and stay on the highway into Andhra Pradesh. Near the end the route turns off onto NH 342 for the final run into Puttaparthi, a quieter road through open, rocky countryside.
| Road distance | About 150 km one way |
| Driving time (route planner) | About 2 h 15 min without traffic delays or stops |
| Main roads on the route | NH 44, NH 342 |
| Round trip | About 300 km of driving, plus any local sightseeing |
Measured from central Bengaluru (Vidhana Soudha) using OpenStreetMap route data. Your exact distance depends on the pickup point and the route the driver takes, and real journey times are usually longer once city traffic, ghat sections and breaks are added.
Route planners show about 150 km one way and about 2 h 15 min of driving without traffic or stops, and about 300 km for the round trip. Most of the time difference between the planner and real life comes from getting out of the city, so a pre-dawn or early-morning start pays off.
Puttaparthi is in Andhra Pradesh, which makes this an interstate trip: permit charges and tolls are extra.

Plan your trip
A one-day trip to Puttaparthi from Bangalore
Puttaparthi is one of the few interstate destinations that works well as a one day trip from Bangalore. Leave early, reach in the morning, spend several hours at the ashram and be home by night. The round trip of about 300 km matches the one-day billing minimum: round trips are billed on actual kilometres with a minimum of 300 km per day, plus the driver allowance.
Staying a night or two lets you attend both morning and evening programmes without rushing. On the way, the Vijayanagara-era temple at Lepakshi is a short detour off NH 44 and makes a good stop on the return. You can also combine Puttaparthi with Anantapur and Penukonda, or plan a longer pilgrimage that includes Tirupati.
Birthday celebrations and major festivals at the ashram bring very large crowds, so book your cab early and allow more time on the road at those times.
