Outstation route

Bangalore to Bellary Cab

Ballari, still widely called Bellary, is a busy district town in the rocky country of eastern Karnataka. Whether you are going for work, a family function or on to Hampi, a cab from Bangalore to Bellary gives you a direct, private ride with the stops you choose.

The route

Bengaluru to Ballari by road

The road trip starts on NH 48 out of Bengaluru, and the route-planner line then uses NH 150A, NH 67 and SH 132 to reach Ballari. The landscape changes as you go, from green suburbs to open plains dotted with granite outcrops.

Road distanceAbout 340 km one way
Driving time (route planner)About 4 h 30 min without traffic delays or stops
Main roads on the routeNH 150A, NH 48, NH 67, SH 132
Round tripAbout 685 km of driving, plus any local sightseeing

Measured from central Bengaluru (Vidhana Soudha) using OpenStreetMap route data. Your exact distance depends on the pickup point and the route the driver takes, and real journey times are usually longer once city traffic, ghat sections and breaks are added.

Those figures are about 340 km one way and about 4 h 30 min of driving without traffic or stops, taken from route-planner data. Expect the actual journey to take longer once you include city traffic and at least one meal break.

Bellary is within Karnataka, so there is no interstate permit on this route. Tolls and parking are extra.

About Bellary

What Ballari is known for

Ballari is best known as a mining and industrial region, and many trips here are for work at the steel and mining operations in the district. It also has history and scenery of its own:

  • Ballari Fort, built on a large rocky hill that overlooks the town.
  • The striking granite hills that surround the town and give the area its rugged look.
  • The Sandur hills to the west, noticeably greener than the plains around them.
  • The Tungabhadra Dam near Hosapete, a common outing for visitors to the region.

Plan your trip

Overnight trips and combining with Hampi

At this distance, a same-day return is very tiring, so most people plan an overnight stay. Since the round trip by itself is about 685 km, a two-day round trip fits the billing well: round trips are charged on actual kilometres with a minimum of 300 km per day, plus driver allowance.

Bellary and Hampi are close neighbours, so it is easy to add a day of sightseeing at the Vijayanagara ruins. See our Bangalore to Hampi cab page for ideas. Travellers heading further north-west can continue towards Hubli.

If you only need a drop, for example when someone is returning by train, a one-way taxi is usually the better fit.

Who it suits

Picking the right car

Engineers and managers on a site visit often travel in a Dzire or Ciaz. Families heading to weddings and functions in Ballari tend to book an Innova Crysta for the space and comfort, and larger family groups take a Tempo Traveller so nobody is left behind. If you are carrying gifts or function supplies, mention it when you book so we send a car with enough boot space.
