Places to Visit Near Bangalore Within 100 Kms and a Bit Beyond
Plenty of rewarding stops lie within a hundred kilometres of Bangalore, and a few more within two hundred. This guide sorts them by drive and by what each is known for, so you can choose a destination that matches the hours you have.
How to read this guide
Two rings around the city
The first ring covers drives of up to a little over an hour, which suit a half-day outing. The second ring runs to roughly two hundred kilometres and works as a full day or an easy overnight stay. All figures are route-planner distances from central Bengaluru, without traffic or stops.
The first ring
Temples, hills and small towns close to the city
Ghati Subramanya – about 54 km, about 55 min of driving without traffic. A famous temple where Subramanya is worshipped together with Narasimha, set among rocky hills and visited by many pilgrims for the combination. See Bangalore to Ghati Subramanya cab.

Planning
Fitting these places into a day
Choose one place per half-day. Ghati Subramanya and Chikkaballapur sit on the same side of the city and pair well; Talakadu and Nanjangud fit with a Mysore day trip. Leave early, carry water and confirm temple timings locally. For a bigger itinerary, the one-day trips guide and the hill stations guide go further afield.
Short trips are still billed as round trips: minimum 300 km per day, with driver allowance and tolls extra. If you only need a drop, read about the one-way taxi.
