Travel guides

Travel Guides from Bangalore

Not sure where to go? These guides turn our route pages into short, practical reading lists for different kinds of trips, so you can compare drive times and then book a cab for the one you like.

How to use these guides

From idea to booked cab

Each guide groups destinations by the kind of trip you have in mind, and every place in it links to a page with the full route details. The distance and time on those pages come from route planners, measured from central Bengaluru, and they do not include traffic or stops, so treat them as a starting point.

Destinations in other states, such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry, carry extra interstate permit charges and tolls. Your final fare is confirmed when you book, and you can call 99640 09999 with questions at any step.

City and surroundings

Places to go in and around the city

Visiting Bangalore, or showing it to guests? The Bangalore sightseeing places guide starts with the city’s landmark gardens and palaces and then moves to nearby outings such as Bidadi and Ramanagara. It is a good first read for visitors who have only a day or two.

If you already know the city and want something close, places within a hundred kilometres of Bangalore groups temples, hills and small towns by drive time, from half-day visits to full-day outings.

Day trips and hills

Short escapes and the Western Ghats

For a plan that returns the same evening, see one-day trips from Bangalore, which runs from Wonderla and Nandi Hills to Mysore and Hogenakkal. If you want cooler air and green views, hill stations near Bangalore compares Coorg, Chikmagalur, Sakleshpur, Sringeri and others in Karnataka.

Longer breaks

Weekends and long weekends away

When you have two or three days, the weekend getaways guide brings together Wayanad, Ooty, Munnar, Pondicherry, Gokarna and more. It also explains how to match the drive to your days off, since a longer route is less tiring with a Friday start.

Good to know

Practical points before any trip

Start early. Highways out of Bangalore are busiest on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, and leaving before the traffic builds saves more time than a faster vehicle. Keep a little flexibility in the plan, because ghat sections, festival crowds and rain can all slow the drive.

Temple, park and falls timings change, and some attractions close on particular days, so confirm current details locally before you set your schedule. Tell the driver your list of stops when you start, and the day can be planned around meal breaks and photo halts.

If you are travelling as a group of friends or relatives, a larger vehicle is often more comfortable than two cabs. Our round-trip cab page explains how multi-day trips are billed.

Your vehicle

Matching the cab to the trip

A Dzire, Etios or Ciaz sedan suits couples and small families. Innova, Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross are more comfortable on longer or hilly routes with luggage, and larger groups can ask for a Tempo Traveller or mini bus. Read the fleet page to compare.
