Outstation route

Bangalore to Kannur Cab

Kannur sits on the north Malabar coast of Kerala, known for its beaches, its Portuguese-era fort and its theyyam tradition. A private cab from Bangalore takes you there with one driver for the whole trip, through the Western Ghats and down to the sea.

The route

Driving from Bangalore to Kannur

This is a drive that changes character halfway. The first stretch is open highway out of Bengaluru, and the second climbs and winds through hill and forest country before dropping into coastal Kerala. The main roads on the route are NH 275, SH 90, SH 30 and SH 91.

Road distanceAbout 315 km one way
Driving time (route planner)About 4 h 45 min without traffic delays or stops
Main roads on the routeNH 275, SH 90, SH 30, SH 91
Round tripAbout 630 km of driving, plus any local sightseeing

Measured from central Bengaluru (Vidhana Soudha) using OpenStreetMap route data. Your exact distance depends on the pickup point and the route the driver takes, and real journey times are usually longer once city traffic, ghat sections and breaks are added.

Those are route-planner figures without traffic or stops, so treat them as the minimum. Ghat sections slow down in rain or behind trucks, and Kerala’s town roads are busier than they look on a map. Because Kannur is in Kerala, interstate permit charges and tolls are charged extra on top of the fare.

What you pay for

Understanding the Bangalore to Kannur taxi fare

The Bangalore to Kannur taxi fare is not a single flat number. It depends on the vehicle you choose, whether you travel one way or return, how many days you keep the car, and the extras that depend on the route. The outstation rate table on this page shows the vehicle-wise rates; the fare for your exact trip is confirmed when you book.

For a round trip, billing is on actual kilometres with a minimum of 300 km per day, plus the driver allowance. Tolls, parking and interstate permit charges are paid in addition. If you only need a drop at Kannur, ask about our one way taxi option instead of paying for an empty return.

At the destination

What to see in and around Kannur

  • Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach, a long stretch of firm sand where vehicles can be driven along the shore.
  • St. Angelo Fort, built by the Portuguese in the early sixteenth century and later held by the Dutch and the British.
  • Payyambalam Beach, a calm sunset spot close to town.
  • Arakkal Museum, which tells the story of the only Muslim royal family of Kerala, the Arakkal dynasty.
  • Parassinikkadavu, home to the Muthappan temple and a snake park.

Kannur is also the heartland of theyyam, the ritual performance art of north Malabar. Performances are tied to local temple calendars, so check locally before you plan around one. Handloom weaving is another local tradition.

Plan your trip

How many days, and which car

With a one-way distance this long, a same-day return is not sensible. Most travellers take two to three days, driving up on day one, resting, and seeing the coast on day two before heading back. If you want to add the hills, a trip that also covers Wayanad or the Coorg side of the Ghats fits naturally into a longer itinerary, and Kochi and Munnar are further down the coast and hills for those with more days.

For two to four people with light luggage, a sedan is comfortable. Families of five or six do better in an Innova Crysta, and larger groups can look at a Tempo Traveller. Ideas for other short breaks are in our weekend getaways guide.
