Outstation route
Bangalore to Kotilingeshwara Cab
Kotilingeshwara is a Shiva temple complex famous for an enormous lingam surrounded by countless smaller ones. A Bangalore to Kotilingeshwara cab turns it into an easy morning-to-afternoon outing for the whole family.
The route
Driving east on NH 75
The trip heads east out of Bengaluru along NH 75 towards the Kolar district, where the temple stands in the village of Kammasandra.
| Road distance | About 90 km one way |
| Driving time (route planner) | About 1 h 15 min without traffic delays or stops |
| Main roads on the route | NH 75 |
| Round trip | About 180 km of driving, plus any local sightseeing |
Measured from central Bengaluru (Vidhana Soudha) using OpenStreetMap route data. Your exact distance depends on the pickup point and the route the driver takes, and real journey times are usually longer once city traffic, ghat sections and breaks are added.
These are route-planner figures without traffic or stops. The first stretch through the eastern suburbs is the slow part, especially on weekday mornings and holiday weekends, so build in some buffer.
The temple
What you will see at Kotilingeshwara
The complex is known for one of the tallest lingams in the world, and the grounds are filled with lakhs of small lingams installed by devotees. Around the main lingam you will find shrines dedicated to many deities, including Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara, Annapoorneshwari and Venkataramani, along with a large Nandi.
The temple was founded by Swami Sambha Shiva Murthy. It is a place for quiet darshan and a slow walk around the shrines, so wear comfortable footwear, carry water and give yourself time rather than rushing between shrines. Timings, special puja days and dress expectations can change, so check with the temple before you set out.
Plan your trip
Combining it with Kolar
Because of its distance, this is a comfortable same-day return. Many families leave early, finish darshan before the afternoon heat and start back after lunch. Since the temple is in the Kolar district, you can also read about our Kolar cab service if you want to add another stop.

Who it suits

Elders and children are often part of a temple visit, so a spacious car with easy entry makes a difference. An Innova Crysta is a popular pick for families, while neighbourhood groups and devotee gatherings can ask about a Tempo Traveller. Round trips are billed on a minimum of 300 km per day, and tolls and parking are extra. Tell us at booking if anyone needs extra help getting in and out of the car, and we will suggest a suitable vehicle.
