Bangalore to Trichy Cab

Tiruchirappalli, better known as Trichy, sits on the Kaveri in the heart of Tamil Nadu and is home to some of South India’s greatest temples. A Bangalore to Trichy cab with your own driver takes you there door to door, whether you are going on a temple tour, visiting family or moving to the city.

The route

The road from Bengaluru to Trichy

Your driver heads south out of Bengaluru on NH 44, crosses into Tamil Nadu at Hosur and carries on across the northern part of the state towards the Kaveri plains. Route planners also use NH 381B, NH 844 and SH 25 on this trip, and the driver will choose the line that works best with traffic on the day.

Road distanceAbout 325 km one way
Driving time (route planner)About 4 h 30 min without traffic delays or stops

Round tripAbout 645 km of driving, plus any local sightseeing

Measured from central Bengaluru (Vidhana Soudha) using OpenStreetMap route data. Your exact distance depends on the pickup point and the route the driver takes, and real journey times are usually longer once city traffic, ghat sections and breaks are added.

The route-planner figures are about 325 km one way and about 4 h 30 min of driving without traffic or stops, with the round trip at about 645 km. In practice the journey runs longer once you count the crawl out of the city, a breakfast or lunch halt and town traffic as you come into Trichy.

Trichy is in Tamil Nadu, so interstate permit charges and tolls are added to the fare. Parking at temples is also extra.

Things to see

Temples and sights in and around Trichy

Most visitors come for the temples, and Trichy has some of the most important ones in Tamil Nadu within easy reach of each other.

  • Rockfort and the Ucchi Pillayar Temple – a huge ancient rock rising out of the old town, with a Ganesha shrine at the top reached by steps cut into the rock. The view over the city and the river is the reward for the climb.
  • Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam – set on an island between the Kaveri and the Kollidam, this is one of the largest functioning Hindu temple complexes in the world and a major centre of Vaishnava worship, with tall gopurams and walled courtyards one inside another.
  • Jambukeswarar Temple, Thiruvanaikaval – a short way from Srirangam, revered as one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams, the shrine associated with the element of water.
  • Samayapuram Mariamman Temple – on the northern edge of the city and one of the busiest goddess temples in the state.
  • Kallanai (Grand Anicut) – the ancient dam across the Kaveri credited to the Chola king Karikalan, still in use today.

Temple customs and timings vary, so check current details locally before you plan a particular darshan.

Plan your trip

One night, two nights or a delta temple circuit

A same-day return to Trichy is possible on paper, but it means a very early start and a long evening drive home, with little time at the temples. Most families book two days: drive down on the first morning, see the Rockfort in the evening light, and spend the next morning at Srirangam and Thiruvanaikaval before heading back.

With an extra day or two you can widen the trip into the Kaveri delta. Thanjavur, home of the Chola-era Brihadeeswarar Temple, is in the same region and pairs naturally with Trichy. Some travellers continue south to Madurai for the Meenakshi Amman Temple, or towards Rameshwaram. For a coastal break on the same trip, look at our Bangalore to Pondicherry cab.

Round trips are billed on actual kilometres with a minimum of 300 km per day, plus the driver allowance shown in the rate table. A two-day Trichy round trip normally covers more than that minimum on actual distance alone.
