The route
Bangalore to Kurnool distance and road
Most of the drive is on NH 44, the long north-south highway that runs from Bengaluru through Andhra Pradesh towards Hyderabad. State highways SH 9, SH 467 and SH 472 are also used on parts of the route.
| Road distance | About 355 km one way |
| Driving time (route planner) | About 5 h without traffic delays or stops |
| Main roads on the route | NH 44, SH 9, SH 467, SH 472 |
| Round trip | About 710 km of driving, plus any local sightseeing |
Measured from central Bengaluru (Vidhana Soudha) using OpenStreetMap route data. Your exact distance depends on the pickup point and the route the driver takes, and real journey times are usually longer once city traffic, ghat sections and breaks are added.
These are route-planner figures without traffic or stops. The highway section is mostly smooth and fast, but the first stretch out of Bengaluru and the stops at toll plazas add time.
Kurnool is in Andhra Pradesh, so interstate permit charges and tolls are extra. They are charged on top of the rate table.
The city
What Kurnool is known for
Kurnool was the first capital of Andhra State after it was formed in 1953, before the capital moved to Hyderabad. It is an old city with forts, mosques and temples, and it is a busy commercial centre for the region.
- Konda Reddy Buruju: a historic fort tower in the middle of the old city.
- Belum Caves: a well-known cave system in Kurnool district, reached by road from the city.
- Mantralayam: the Raghavendra Swamy shrine on the Tungabhadra, a major pilgrimage place for devotees from Karnataka. See our Bangalore to Mantralayam cab page.
- Yaganti and Ahobilam: temple sites that many travellers combine with a Kurnool trip.
Plan your trip
Day trip, overnight stay and onward travel
At about 355 km one way, Kurnool is too far for an easy same-day return. A very early start can get you there for a morning meeting or a pilgrimage, but most travellers plan an overnight stay and return the next day.
The city also works as a halfway point. If you are going further on NH 44 to Hyderabad, the Kurnool stretch breaks the journey for a meal. Travellers heading east can look at Tirupati, and those going to the Nallamala forests can add Srisailam.
For two or three passengers a sedan is enough. For a family or business group with luggage, an Innova Crysta is more comfortable over a full day on the road. Pilgrim groups can book a Tempo Traveller.
Billing

Round trips are billed on actual kilometres with a minimum of 300 km per day, plus the driver allowance shown in the rate table. Tolls, parking and interstate permit charges are extra. If you need a drop only, the one way taxi page explains how it works.
