Bangalore to Kadapa Cab

Kadapa, in Andhra Pradesh’s Rayalaseema region, is the base for Gandikota, a gorge on the Pennar river, and for several old temples. Here is how the road from Bangalore looks, and how a private cab fits the trip.

The route

Bangalore to Kadapa distance and road

The Bangalore to Kadapa distance by road is covered in the table below. The route goes out of Karnataka on SH 82, NH 340, NH 40 and NH 75, as named in route-planner data.

Road distanceAbout 250 km one way
Driving time (route planner)About 3 h 30 min without traffic delays or stops
Main roads on the routeSH 82, NH 340, NH 40, NH 75
Round tripAbout 500 km of driving, plus any local sightseeing

Measured from central Bengaluru (Vidhana Soudha) using OpenStreetMap route data. Your exact distance depends on the pickup point and the route the driver takes, and real journey times are usually longer once city traffic, ghat sections and breaks are added.

Those are route-planner figures without traffic or stops. Because Kadapa is in Andhra Pradesh, interstate permit charges and tolls are extra.

At the destination

What to see around Kadapa

  • Gandikota, often called the Grand Canyon of India, where the Pennar river has cut a gorge through red rock beside an old fort.
  • Devuni Kadapa, the Venkateswara temple traditionally treated as the gateway to Tirumala.
  • Vontimitta, known for the Kodandarama temple.
  • Pushpagiri, a temple complex on the Pennar.

Opening hours and access to the gorge viewpoint change, so check locally before you go.

Plan your trip

Day trip or overnight

At this distance, a same-day return is possible only with a very early start, and you would spend most of the day on the road. An overnight stay lets you see Gandikota in good light and visit the temples without hurrying.

Round trips are billed on actual kilometres with a minimum of 300 km per day, plus the driver allowance. See the Tirupati and Mantralayam pages if you want to combine pilgrimages, or one way taxi for a drop only.

Families usually prefer an Innova Crysta, while larger groups can ask about a Tempo Traveller.

On the way

Making the most of a Kadapa visit

Kadapa is a place where the sights are spread across the district, not clustered in one town. Gandikota lies some way from the city, near Jammalamadugu, while Vontimitta and Pushpagiri are in other directions. That is why having a car and driver at your disposal for the day is more useful than a one-off drop.

Early morning is the better time at the gorge, when the light on the red rock is soft and the heat has not built up. Rayalaseema summers are hot, so carry water and plan temple visits for the cooler hours. Tell the driver your list of places when you book, so that the days can be planned around the order of the stops.

Pilgrims often combine Kadapa with Tirumala, since Devuni Kadapa is traditionally the first stop before the hill. If that is your plan, read about our Tirupati cab service and ask us to plan both legs in a single booking.
