Airport transfer

IISc to Bangalore Airport Taxi

Whether you are a visiting researcher, a parent dropping a student or an alumnus flying home, a pre-booked cab between the Indian Institute of Science and Kempegowda International Airport removes the guesswork. We cover the transfer in both directions.

The transfer

IISc to Kempegowda International Airport, both ways

The Indian Institute of Science sits in north-central Bengaluru, close to Malleshwaram, Sadashivanagar and Yeshwanthpur. That position works in your favour: the airport lies to the north, so you join the northbound corridor without crossing the whole city first.

Route-planner figures from OpenStreetMap data, without traffic delays or stops. Bengaluru traffic varies a lot by time of day, so allow extra time for your flight; we will suggest a pickup time when you book.

These are route-planner figures without traffic or stops, so treat them as the best case. Your real journey time depends on the hour you travel, and the final stretch towards the airport is usually the part where a buffer helps most.

Pickup points

Where we can pick you up around IISc

The campus is large and has several gates, so tell us exactly where you will be waiting. Common pickup spots for this transfer include:

  • The main gate of the institute on the C V Raman Avenue side.
  • Guest houses and hostels inside the campus, subject to the entry arrangements you have with the institute.
  • Mekhri Circle and the Sadashivanagar side for people staying in nearby apartments or hotels.
  • Malleshwaram and Yeshwanthpur, if you are combining the trip with the railway station or a relative’s home.

For a drop-off, give us the department, hostel or guest house name along with your mobile number. Campus roads are quiet, but a clear pickup point saves a few minutes of searching.

Timing

Early flights, late arrivals and academic schedules

Many campus travellers fly at odd hours, straight after a conference session or a thesis defence. For a morning departure, the roads near the institute are calm before the office rush, but do not cut it fine: check your airline’s check-in cut-off and leave with a comfortable margin. Midday and evening traffic on the northern approach is heavier, so add more buffer than you would at dawn.

For late-night arrivals, we plan the pickup around your landing, not your original schedule. Share your flight number when you book and tell us if you land at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, so the driver knows where to wait once you walk out.

Choosing a cab

Which vehicle suits an IISc airport trip

A solo scholar with a backpack and a cabin bag will be fine in a Dzire or Ciaz. Visiting faculty travelling with conference posters, trunks or a spouse and children are more comfortable in an Innova or Innova Crysta, where the boot absorbs larger luggage. Lab groups travelling together to a conference can ask about the Tempo Traveller.

The fare for your trip is confirmed when you book. If you also need a car for the day in the city, see our local taxi service.
