Airport transfer
Bangalore Airport to Coorg Taxi
Many travellers heading to Coorg fly into Bengaluru and drive on to the hills. A private cab from Kempegowda International Airport takes you straight to Madikeri and the coffee country, without a change of vehicle.
The route
From the airport to Coorg by road
This is an intercity journey, not a city transfer. The route planner lists NH 275, NH 275K and NH 44 as the main roads between the airport and Madikeri, the headquarters of Coorg. Here are its figures.
| To Kempegowda International Airport | About 290 km, about 4 h of driving |
| From the airport | About 290 km, about 4 h of driving |
| Main roads | NH 275, NH 275K, NH 44 |
Route-planner figures from OpenStreetMap data, without traffic delays or stops. Bengaluru traffic varies a lot by time of day, so allow extra time for your flight; we will suggest a pickup time when you book.
For comparison, the planner shows about 255 km and about 3 h 30 min from central Bengaluru, so the airport adds some distance. All these are route-planner driving figures without traffic or stops, and a real journey with breaks takes longer. If you are starting from the city rather than the terminals, see our Bangalore to Coorg cab page.
At the destination
What awaits you in Coorg
Coorg, also called Kodagu, is known for its coffee estates, misty hills and cardamom and pepper plantations. In and around Madikeri you can visit Raja’s Seat, a garden viewpoint popular at sunset, Madikeri Fort, and Abbey Falls, which is reached through a private estate. The Omkareshwara temple in the town is another landmark. The local culture of the Kodava people adds a distinct flavour to food and festivals.
Roads in the hills are winding, so many visitors prefer a driver who knows the curves. Check current conditions locally in the monsoon season, as heavy rain can affect the ghat sections.
Planning
Timing the drive and choosing a car
Because the drive is long, avoid scheduling an evening arrival at the airport and expecting to reach Coorg late at night on winding roads. A morning landing works better, giving you daylight for most of the drive. If you land late, consider resting in Bengaluru and continuing in the morning.
For the return, leave Coorg early enough to be at the airport well ahead of your airline’s check-in cut-off, and keep a generous cushion for breaks and traffic. Families and groups with luggage usually pick an Innova or Crysta; larger parties can ask about a Tempo Traveller. Tolls are extra, and the fare is confirmed when you book.
Pickup points
Pickup and drop in Madikeri and nearby
In Coorg we can arrange pickup at your homestay, resort or hotel gate, or at central Madikeri spots such as the bus stand, the fort area or Raja’s Seat road. Share the property name and a map pin, because many estates are on narrow side lanes. At the airport, give us your flight number and terminal (Terminal 1 or Terminal 2) so the driver is ready when you land. For other nearby airport routes, see the Mysore to airport taxi or the main airport taxi page.
