Head into the Nilgiris for cool weather, tea gardens and misty viewpoints. A private cab lets you break the long drive, stop for photos and explore Ooty and Coonoor without depending on buses.
The route
Two ways to reach Ooty
There are two common routes from Bangalore to Ooty:
- Via Mysore and the forest reserves: the route continues past Mysore through Gundlupet and the Bandipur and Mudumalai forests before climbing into the Nilgiris. This stretch passes through protected forest with restricted night travel, so plan to cross it in daylight.
- Via Salem and Coimbatore: a longer route that avoids the forest stretch and climbs to Ooty through Mettupalayam and Coonoor.
Distance and travel time vary with your exact pickup point, the route taken and traffic. Ask us when you book and we will help you plan your departure.
