Route-planner figures from OpenStreetMap data, without traffic delays or stops. Bengaluru traffic varies a lot by time of day, so allow extra time for your flight; we will suggest a pickup time when you book.
These are route-planner figures without traffic or stops, so a day with breaks will take longer. From central Bengaluru the figure is about 340 km and about 4 h 15 min.
The whole trip stays within Karnataka, so there is no interstate permit charge, though tolls are extra.
Where we pick you up
Hampi, Kamalapura and Hosapete pickups
Visitors stay in different places around the site. The most common pickup points are:
- Hampi Bazaar, near the Virupaksha Temple.
- Kamalapura, the village on the edge of the ruins.
- Hosapete, the nearest town, including its railway station and bus stand.
- Guesthouses and hotels across the area, including near the Tungabhadra Dam.
Some lanes near the bazaar are narrow, so the driver may meet you at the nearest road access. Say where your luggage will be when you book.
Planning
Fitting Hampi into a flight plan
This is a long drive, so avoid compressing the sightseeing into the last few hours before a flight. A good plan is to leave Hampi the day before a Bengaluru departure, or in the small hours of the morning if your flight is later. Check your airline’s check-in cut-off and keep a wide margin. The stone ruins and open landscape make Hampi tiring in the afternoon sun, so a rested start for the road back helps everyone in the car.
If you are arriving, share your flight number and terminal (Terminal 1 or Terminal 2) when you book. Most guests prefer to head straight out, but you can plan an overnight stop on the way if you want a rest. For a full sightseeing itinerary, read the Bangalore to Hampi cab page.
The right cab
Choosing a vehicle for the Hampi run
One or two people can use a Ciaz or Dzire. A family with luggage will find the Innova, Crysta or Hycross better for the distance, and friends or relatives travelling together can ask about a Tempo Traveller.
